Some feel that the Kingdom is in our heart because of the way Luke 17:21 has been rendered by certain Bible translators.

A footnote to Luke 17:21 in the New International Version shows that Jesus’ words could be rendered: “The kingdom of God is among you.”

True, Jesus said: “The kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21, AV)

He could say this because basileía also applies to the king of a kingdom, the “royal dignity.”—Luke 17:21; see also RS, AV, margin.

What did he mean, then, when he said: “The kingdom of God is within you”? (Luke 17:21, AV)

What Jesus said to these unbelieving Pharisees was “the kingdom of God is in your midst.” (Luke 17:21)

What has caused confusion is the expression “the kingdom of God is within you,” of Luke 17:21, as found in some versions, as well as an overlooking of the fact that Jesus was here addressing the hypocritical, greedy, faithless Pharisees.

The only “sign” that they will get will be the continuing fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy on the world’s end, including the message “announcing Jehovah’s kingdom” as now being preached world-wide respecting Christ’s enthronement.—Matt. 24:14; Luke 17:21, NW.
