In exalted strains Psalm 99:1-5 announces: “Yahweh [or, Jehovah] hath become king, let the peoples tremble, he is enthroned on the cherubim, let the earth shake.

17. Over whom is Jehovah enthroned? How has his becoming king affected the earth, and what is it time for people to do?

¹⁷ Jehovah is enthroned on the cherubim who uphold his sovereignty.

Dr. Dens, a Roman Catholic scholar, in his Theology, endeavors to justify the use of images by stating that the second commandment did not forbid the making of images, because “likenesses and images of cherubim were made by Moses at the command of God; also, by the command of God Moses erected a brazen serpent.”

Dr. Dens himself fails to tell all, as he should have told in all honesty, that these cherubim that Moses made at God’s command were never seen by the people, save by the high priest once a year; that no man ever bowed, burned incense or worshiped before them.

Upon this hill or mountain of God are found the high-ranking spirit creatures known as cherubim.

These cherubim surround the throne of Jehovah and are supposed to be upholders of his universal sovereignty. (Ps. 80:1, AS)

Many people had been anxious to join us, especially the Cherubim and Seraphim Society in Ilesha.

Josephus wrote: “As for [those] cherubim themselves, no one can say or imagine what they looked like.”

Some are called cherubim, some seraphim, and some angels.

The song, however, makes reference to Jehovah’s temple, priests and cherubim, which does not at all fit in with the desolated condition of Jerusalem at the time.

In this heavenly house are to be found Jehovah God’s Son, the resurrected glorious Jesus Christ, now the express image of his Father, the seraphim, the cherubim and other angelic creatures, spirit messengers, as well as those footstep followers of Christ who have been faithful until death and to whom God has been pleased to give the crown of life, these having put on incorruption and immortality in the “first resurrection.”

When he tells about the different kinds of spirit creatures, namely, angels, cherubim, seraphim and the archangel, and describes their various positions, do you remember that this was considered on pages 50 to 53 of the book “The Truth Shall Make You Free”?

True, God commanded the making of cherubim for the mercy seat, but these were always hidden from public view.—Num. 4:5.

Therefore Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, and he placed the cherubim, and the flame of a sword, to keep the way of the tree of life.—Gen. 3:22-24, AS.

These angels, cherubim and seraphim, were included in the creations of God through the Logos.

18. What has Jehovah built up on earth, and so where is our safety?

¹⁸ Just as Jehovah has an invisible organization of principalities and powers, of cherubim, seraphim and angels, all in their proper station in his organization, so upon the earth Jehovah God has built up a great organization.

When he was driven out of Eden for disobedience then obedience was seen in the cherubim who guarded the way to the tree of life, so man could not reach it. (Gen. 3:24)

Its entrance was guarded by glorious cherubim and by the revolving sword of fire.

Let the peoples tremble, he is enthroned on the cherubim, let the earth shake.

It is a time to worship, serve and announce the real, living King, attended by his hosts of seraphim, cherubim and angels.

However, there were images or likenesses of cherubim in the tabernacle, both on the hangings and on the cover of the ark.
