1, 2. In the Hebrew Scriptures, to what can the term “footstool” refer?

JEHOVAH GOD has appropriately proclaimed: “The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” (Isa. 66:1)

Regarding his “footstool,” he also stated: “I will glorify the place for my feet.” (Isa. 60:13)

1, 2. (a) Through his prophet Isaiah, what did God foretell regarding the earth? (b) Looking a thousand years into the future, what do we see?

JEHOVAH created the earth as a planet under his feet, as his figurative footstool.

3, 4. (a) In what way will heaven and earth correspond to each other? (b) How will the angels respond when Paradise is restored to the earth?

³ Thousands of years previously, in a divinely inspired description of his realm, God spoke these impressive words to his chosen people: “The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” (Isaiah 66:1)

One of the last things that his prophet Isaiah wrote down is this statement: “This is what Jehovah has said: ‘The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool.’” (Isa. 66:1)

Well, then, should not this King, who thrones over all creation, be interested in his earthly footstool and what takes place there?

As high as God’s footstool, the earth, down to which the Devil was violently ousted from heaven since 1914.

Much more easily can he check all human inhabitants on this his footstool.

For the purpose of correcting wrong ideas about his sanctuary, God inspired his prophet Isaiah to say: “This is what Jehovah has said: ‘The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool.

Compared with the heavens where Jehovah sits enthroned as universal King of eternity, the earth is his footstool.

“Thus saith Jehovah: The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool: what is the house that ye will build unto me? and what is the place of my rest?” (Isa. 66:1, Da)

There is where he reigns as universal sovereign; and the earth, where once his material temple stood on Mount Moriah, is to him like a footstool by which he steps up and mounts his high-seated throne.

2:1, 6​—What is Jehovah’s “footstool” and his “booth”?

The psalmist sang: “Let us come into his grand tabernacle; let us bow down at his footstool.” (Psalm 132:7)

Not to God, for he says: “The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” (Isa. 66:1)

Surely, such a figurative “footstool” used by the Most High is not a mere insignificant “speck.”

Then God would begin to make all the Gentile nations a footstool under the feet of the Son of David.​—Luke 21:24; Isa. 28:16-21; Ps. 110:1, 2; Acts 2:34-36; Heb. 10:13.

22. To what have the Gentile nations put up a resistance since 1914?

²² Since 1914 the Gentile nations have refused to recognize the end of the “appointed times of the nations” and have resisted being made the footstool of the reigning Son of David.

Concerning the location of His throne Jehovah God says: “The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” (Isa. 66:1; Acts 7:48, 49; Ps. 110:1; Acts 2:34-36; 1 Pet. 3:22)

The earth will be as a footstool to them, and here on the footstool is where their human subjects will be found during the thousand years.

Not as King on a material throne in an earthly Jerusalem, but on the “throne of Jehovah” which is in heaven and where Jesus had been sitting waiting for all his enemies to be made his footstool.

“The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool,” says Jehovah. (Acts 7:49, NW; Isa. 66:1, AS)

“The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool,” God said. (Isaiah 66:1)

Being the very acme of holiness, God will not allow his “footstool” to be soiled by evil indefinitely. (Isaiah 6:1-3; Revelation 4:8)

“This is what Jehovah has said: ‘The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool.’”—ISAIAH 66:1.

Jehovah told Isaiah that the earth is only His footstool, but the heavens are His throne. (Isaiah 66:1)

1, 2. (a) What immense work did Jehovah undertake at some time in the distant past? (b) How did Jehovah describe the result of his creative activities?

THERE was a time when God began to create ‘the heavens as his throne and the earth as his footstool.’ (Isaiah 66:1)

Yet, this was what Jehovah purposed to be his footstool.

All the inhabited earth is the symbolic footstool of Jehovah God. (Isaiah 66:1)

Human creatures occupying any part of his footstool deserve to be reached by this message of salvation.

9, 10. What is the stand of Jehovah’s Witnesses regarding the “Peace and security” as devised by nations, and why so?

The nations down here on his footstool are not adorning it by their United Nations organization.
