Acts
26 A·grip′pa tell Paul say: “You get permission to talk for yourself.” Then Paul stretch im hand and start to talk to defend imself say:
2 “As for all the things wey the Jew people talk say I do, King A·grip′pa, I happy say na for your front I want defend myself today, 3 especially because you really know all the tradition and the things wey Jew people de argue about. So, I de beg you make you dey patient and listen to me.
4 “True-true, all the Jew people really know the kind life wey I live from when I dey young among my people* and for Jerusalem. 5 Them really know me before, if them go dey ready to talk the truth, say, I live my life as Pharisee person, and Pharisee people de follow Law pass all the other Jew people for our worship. 6 But now, them de judge me because I get hope for the things wey God promise our papa-papa them. 7 Na this same promise our 12 tribes de hope to see say e happen as them de use all their heart de worship God day and night. Na because of this hope Jew people talk things against me, O King.
8 “Wetin de make una think* say God no fit bring back people wey don die? 9 Even me, I dey sure before say I suppose to do everything wey I fit do to dey against the name of Jesus wey come from Nazʹa·reth. 10 Na exactly wetin I do for Jerusalem and I lock many holy ones for prison, because the chief priests give me authority; and when them want kill this holy ones, I support-am.* 11 I punish them plenty times for all the synagogues so that I go fit try to force them to reject their faith. And since I really vex for them, I even suffer them go reach other cities.
12 “As I de do this one, I de travel go Damascus with authority and full power wey the chief priests give me. 13 And then around afternoon time for road, I see one strong bright light wey pass the sun and e shine from heaven around me and around people wey de travel with me, O King. 14 And when all of us don fall for ground, I hear one voice talk to me for Hebrew language say: ‘Saul, Saul, why you de suffer me? As you de fight against me,* na yourself you de wound.’ 15 But I talk say: ‘Who you be, Lord?’ And the Lord talk say: ‘I be Jesus, the person wey you de suffer. 16 But get up and stand. The reason why I appear to you na to choose you as servant and to talk about the things wey you don see and the things wey I go make you see about me. 17 And I go save you from this people and from the nations wey I de send you go meet, 18 to open their eye, to turn them from darkness to light, and turn them from the authority of Satan to God, so that God fit forgive their sins and them go get the thing wey God don promise to give people wey e don make holy because of the faith wey them get for me.’
19 “So King A·grip′pa, I no reject the vision from heaven wey I see, 20 but I bring the message to people for Damascus first, and then to people for Jerusalem, and people for everywhere for Ju·de′a and to the nations too. I tell them say make them repent and turn follow God with the things wey them de do wey show say them don repent. 21 Na this one make Jew people catch me for the temple and try to kill me. 22 But, because God don help me, I continue to preach to both big and small person till today. And the only things wey I de talk about na the things wey the Prophets and Moses don write say go happen. 23 And na say Christ go suffer and say as the first person wey God go bring back to life, e go preach about light to this people and to people of the nations.”
24 Now as Paul de talk this things to defend imself, Festus talk with loud voice say: “Paul, your head no correct! Too much book don de make you craze!” 25 But Paul talk say: “I no de craze, the Great One Festus, but wetin I de talk na true, and I de reason well. 26 Because true-true, the king wey I dey free to talk to now, really know about this things. I dey sure say nothing out of all this things wey e no know, because I no hide do this things. 27 King A·grip′pa, you believe the things wey the Prophets don write? I know say you believe-am.” 28 But A·grip′pa tell Paul say: “Small time, you go turn me to Christian.” 29 So Paul talk say: “My prayer to God na say, whether na for short time or long time, make e no be only you, but make everybody wey de hear me today be like me, but I no want make them chain them like this.”
30 Then the king stand up and the governor and Bernice, and the men wey sitdown with them stand up too. 31 But as them de comot, them start to talk to each other say: “This man no de do anything wey suppose make them kill-am or chain-am for prison.” 32 So A·grip′pa tell Festus say: “Them for don release this man if to say e no talk say e want make Caesar hear im case.”
