Kungani amadoda ama-Israyeli ayevunyelwe ukushada nabesifazane bezinye izizwe abayizithunjwa kuyilapho uMthetho KaMose wawuyala ukuthi kwakungafanele kwakhiwe ubuhlobo bomshado nezizwe ezithile?—Duteronomi 7:1-3; 21:10, 11.
Isizathu sokuvunyelwa kwalokhu sihlanganisa izimo ezikhethekile. UJehova wayeyale ama-Israyeli ukuba achithe imizi yezizwe eziyisikhombisa ezweni laseKhanani, abulale zonke izakhamuzi zakhona. (Duteronomi 20:15-18) Kwezinye izizwe, abantu abadala okuwukuphela kwabo ababesemathubeni okusinda kwakungabesifazane abayizithunjwa abayizintombi ntó. (Numeri 31:17, 18; Duteronomi 20:14) Indoda engumIsrayeli yayingashada nowesifazane onjalo, kodwa kuphela uma ayethatha izinyathelo ezithile.
Ngokuqondene nezinyathelo okwakufanele azithathe owesifazane onjalo, iBhayibheli lithi: “Kumelwe aphuce ikhanda, anakekele nezinzipho zakhe, asuse kuye isiphuku sakhe sokuthunjwa futhi ahlale endlini yakho akhalele uyise nonina inyanga yonke; ngemva kwalokho ungalala naye, umthathe abe ngumakoti wakho, uyoba ngumkakho.”—Duteronomi 21:12, 13.
Intombi eyisithunjwa okwakunomIsrayeli ofuna ukuyishada kwakufanele iphuce ikhanda layo. Ukuphuca izinwele kwakuyisibonakaliso sokuzila noma sokucindezeleka. (Isaya 3:24) Ngokwesibonelo, lapho inzalamizi enguJobe ishonelwa yizo zonke izingane zayo futhi ilahlekelwa impahla yayo, yaphuca izinwele njengophawu lokuzila. (Jobe 1:20) Owesifazane wezizwe kwakufanele futhi anakekele izinzipho zakhe, mhlawumbe “azinqume zibe mfushane izinzipho zakhe” ukuze kuthi noma zipendwe ngombala, zingakhangi. (Duteronomi 21:12, Knox) Sasiyini “isiphuku sokuthunjwa” owesifazane oyisithunjwa okwakufanele asisuse? Kwakuwumkhuba ngabesifazane bemizi yamaqaba ukuthi lapho sebezonqotshwa, bagqoke izingubo zabo zikanokusho. Lokhu babekwenza ngethemba lokukhanga abathumbi. Kwakufanele azikhumule izembatho ezinjalo owesifazane ozilile oyisithunjwa.
Owesifazane oyisithunjwa owayezoba umfazi wendoda engumIsrayeli kwakufanele abazilele inyanga yonke abathandekayo bakhe abafile. Emizini enqotshiwe kwakufanele kuqothwe imbokodo nesisekelo, ziphele zonke izihlobo nabangane. Njengoba amasosha ama-Israyeli ayeyobe ebhubhise yonke imifanekiso yonkulunkulu balowo wesifazane, zazingeke zisaba khona izinto angazikhulekela. Inyanga yokuzila yayibuye ibe inkathi yokuhlanza lapho owesifazane oyisithunjwa ayehlukana ngokuphelele nezinto zakhe eziphathelene nokukhulekela abanye onkulunkulu.
Nokho, isimo sasihluka endabeni yowesifazane wezizwe nje. Ngokuqondene naleyo ndaba, uJehova wayala: “Akumelwe wakhe ubuhlobo bomshado [nalezo zizwe]. Indodakazi yakho akumelwe uyinike indodana yakhe, nendodakazi yakhe akumelwe uyithathele indodana yakho.” (Duteronomi 7:3) Sasiyini isizathu salo mthetho? UDuteronomi 7:4 uthi: “Ngoba iyophendula indodana yakho ingabe isangilandela, ngokuqinisekile bakhonze abanye onkulunkulu.” Ngakho, ukwenqabela lokhu kwakungenjongo yokuvikela ama-Israyeli ekugcolisweni inkolo. Nokho, owesifazane wezizwe osesimweni esichazwe kuDuteronomi 21:10-13 wayengelona usongo olunjalo. Zonke izihlobo zakhe zazifile, nemifanekiso emelela onkulunkulu bakhe yayibhujisiwe.
