9 The wise ones have become ashamed.+ They have become terrified and will be caught. Look! They have rejected the very word of Jehovah, and what wisdom do they have?+

39 And Jesus said: “For [this] judgment+ I came into this world: that those not seeing might see+ and those seeing might become blind.”+

26 saying, ‘Go to this people and say: “By hearing, YOU will hear but by no means understand; and, looking, YOU will look but by no means see.+

28 And just as they did not approve of holding God in accurate knowledge,+ God gave them up to a disapproved mental state,+ to do the things not fitting,+

19 For it is written: “I will make the wisdom of the wise [men] perish,+ and the intelligence of the intellectual+ [men] I will shove aside.”+
