28 I will send the feeling of dejection* ahead of you,+ and it will drive the Hiʹvites, the Caʹnaan·ites, and the Hitʹtites out from before you.+

11 “Pay attention to what I am commanding you today.+ Here I am driving out from before you the Amʹor·ites, the Caʹnaan·ites, the Hitʹtites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Hiʹvites, and the Jebʹu·sites.+

53 And you will take possession of the land and dwell in it, because I will certainly give you the land as a possession.+

5 It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you are going in to take possession of their land. Instead, it is because of the wickedness of these nations that Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you+ and in order to carry out the word that Jehovah swore to your forefathers, Abraham,+ Isaac,+ and Jacob.+

12 For whoever does these things is detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable practices Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you.
