1. The Loving and Compassionate Potter

(10 min.)

Jehovah deals compassionately with us, even when we suffer as a result of our own mistakes (Isa 63:9; cl 253-254 ¶7-9)

Although he does not shield us from the consequences of our mistakes, he helps us (w23.08 28-29 ¶8-9)

If we allow him to, he will continue molding us into something valuable in his eyes (Isa 64:8; w13 9/15 20 ¶15-17)

2. Spiritual Gems

7. Disaster Preparedness—Expect the Unexpected

(15 min.) Discussion. To be handled by an elder. Include reminders from the branch office and the body of elders, if provided.

Collage: Various warning signs that depict specific natural disasters: 1. A tsunami. 2. An earthquake. 3. A tornado. 4. An erupting volcano. 5. A forest fire.

Disasters, including violent attacks, can occur anywhere and without warning. (Ec 9:11) Even if you live in an area that rarely experiences natural disasters, it is wise to expect the unexpected. (Pr 22:3) How can you prepare?

  • When in public, be alert to your surroundings, and pay attention to the location of emergency exits, especially in crowded areas

  • For natural disasters, prepare and maintain go bagsa and emergency supplies for home. Have an evacuation plan and the contact information of your family and friends.—g17.5 4

Play the VIDEO Disaster Preparedness: Expect the Unexpected. Then ask the audience:

  • How did the brothers and sisters initially feel about disaster preparedness?

  • What practical steps did they take to prepare?

  • How did Jehovah bless their efforts to prepare for a disaster?

  • What did they learn from their experience?

ASK YOURSELF, ‘What does my view of disaster preparedness say about my respect for Jehovah?’

GOAL: When in public places this week, ask yourself, ‘Where is the nearest emergency exit?’
