let the lowly brother rejoice over his exaltation: Many Christians in the first century were “lowly” in the sense that they were not wealthy; nor did they occupy an important position in society. (1Co 1:26-28) Yet, they could “rejoice” (lit., “boast”) over their “exaltation,” that is, over the fact that they had God’s favor and could rightly look forward to their reward as “heirs of the Kingdom.”—Jas 2:5.
