New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (Study Edition)
    • 4:16

you take pride in your arrogant boasting: In this context, James condemns those who boasted about what they would do in the future but who arrogantly failed to depend on God when making their plans. (Jas 4:13-15; compare Pr 27:1.) Instead of being ashamed of their boasting, they actually took pride in it. James tells these boasters frankly that all such boasting is wicked because it is based on false confidence in what they think they can achieve in the future.—Jer 9:23, 24.
