¹⁴ At Jeremiah 10:23, we read the words of the inspired prophet: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong.

The Bible accurately states: “It does not belong to man . . . to direct his step.”—Jeremiah 10:23

God never gave man the wisdom and the right to govern himself. (Jeremiah 10:23)

The Bible shows that in order for man to have a successful and delightful way of life, he must be dependent on God for guidance. (Jeremiah 10:23; Proverbs 14:12)​—11/1, pages 4, 5.

In our previous issue, we noted that one reason why the United Nations was doomed to failure is that God did not give man the wisdom or right to govern himself. (Jeremiah 10:23)

◻ Human wisdom too limited (Jeremiah 10:23)

Instead, the past course of human events has proved true the inspired words: “It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.” (Jeremiah 10:23)

Realizing that “man’s course lies not in his own hands; it is not in a man to have control over his actions,” we must seek proper guidance. (Jer. 10:23, Mo)

We, too, can and should not only do everything to bring our tongue into subjection but, acknowledging that “it does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step,” we should pray to Jehovah to make us do his will.​—Jer. 10:23.
