Nawe-Kapernawume uyakuphakanyiselwa ezulwini na? Uyakwehliselwa eHayidese; ngokuba uma yayenziwe eSodoma imisebenzi yamandla eyenziwe kuwe, ngabe likhona nanamuhla. . . . Kuyakuba ngcono kulo izwe laseSodoma ngosuku lokwahlulela kunakuwe.” (Mathewu 11:20-24) UJesu wakhuluma amazwi afanayo lapho ethuma abafundi abayi-12 ukuba bayoshumayela, kamuva abangama-70.—Mathewu 10:14, 15; Luka 10:13-15.

Ngaphandle kwamazwi kaJesu okukhulunywa ngawo, uHezekeli 32:21, 30 uyasitshela ukuthi abantu abangamaqaba baseTire/neSidoni lasendulo baseSheoli; ngakho basohlwini lokuvuswa. Khona-ke, kuthiwani ngezakhamizi ‘zezwe laseSodoma ngosuku lokwahlulela’? Iqiniso nje lokuthi uJesu wafanisa iSidoni neSodoma alinikezi amathemba esikhathi esizayo ngalabobantu uNkulunkulu ababhubhisa ngesibabule nangomlilo. Kodwa ake sibone okunye iBhayibheli elikushoyo ngalendaba.
Okunye ukukhulumela okuqondile kukuJuda 7. UJuda wayesanda kukhuluma (1) ngamaKristu abhujiswa ngenxa yokuntula ukholo, (2) nezingelosi ezona futhi ‘ezigcinelwe ukulahlwa kosuku olukhulu ngezibopho ezimiyo phansi kobumnyama.’ Khona-ke uJuda wabhala: “Njengokuba iSodoma neGomora . . . imisiwe ibe-yisiboniso, izwa isijeziso somlilo omiyo njalo.” Lelivesi belisetshenziswa ngokubhekiselwe ekubhujisweni kwaphakade kwemizi uqobo, hhayi abantu. Lapho ebuzwa ‘ngokuphela kwezwe,’ uJesu wabikezela ngokufika ‘kokuphela’ ‘nangosizi olukhulu olungazange lube-khona kwasekuqaleni kwezwe.’ (Mathewu 24:3, 14, 21) Waqhubeka wakhuluma ‘ngosuku lukaNowa’ nangalokho ‘okwenzeka emihleni kaLoti’ njengezibonelo zabantu abangasinakanga isixwayiso ngembubhiso ezayo. UJesu wenezela: “Kuyakuba-njalo ngosuku eyokwambulwa ngayo iNdodana yomuntu.” (Luka 17:26-30; qhathanisa noMathewu 24:36-39.) Ingabe uJesu wayebonisa isimo nje, noma ingabe umongo wendaba asebenzisa kuwo lezibonelo usikisela ukuthi izahlulelo zaphakade zazihilelekile?
Kamuva, uPetru wabhala ngezahlulelo zikaNkulunkulu nangokujezisa kwaKhe labo ezibafanele. Khona-ke uPetru wasebenzisa izibonelo ezintathu: izingelosi ezona, izwe lamandulo lesikhathi sikaNowa, nalabo ababhujiswa eSodoma/naseGomora. UPetru wathi, lokhu okushiwo muva, ‘kwaba yisiboniso kubo abangayikumesaba uNkulunkulu.’ (2 Petru 2:4-9) Ngemva kwalokho, waqhathanisa lokho abantu ababhekana nakho ngoZamcolo nokuza ‘kosuku lokwahlulela nokubhubha kwabantu abangamesabi uNkulunkulu.’ Lokho kwandulela isithembiso samazulu amasha nomhlaba omusha.—2 Petru 3:5-13.

Kukhona ukufana okuthakazelisayo kwamazwi phakathi kwalencazelo nalokho uJesu athi kwenzeka endabeni yaseSodoma. Ngaphezu kwalokho, uMathewu 25:31-46 nesAmbulo 19:11-21 ubonisa ukuthi “izimbuzi” ezinqunywa empini kaNkulunkulu ezayo ‘ziyojeziswa phakade’ “echibini lomlilo,” elifanekisela ukubhujiswa kwaphakade.b—IsAmbulo 20:10, 14.
Ngakho, ngaphezu kwalokho uJuda 7 akushoyo, iBhayibheli lisebenzisa iSodoma/neGomora noZamcolo njengeziboniso zendlela esiyoba yiyo isiphelo sembubhiso sesimiso samanje esonakele. Ngaleyondlela siyofanelekela ukuphila ezweni elisha ukuze sibone ukuthi obani abavusayo nokuthi obani angabavusi. Siyazi ukuthi izahlulelo zakhe ziphelele. UElihu uyasiqinisekisa: “Impela uNkulunkulu akenzi okubi; uSomandla akahlanekezeli ukwahlulela.”—Jobe 34:10, 12.
