9 Jehovah’s angel then said to her: “Return to your mistress and humble yourself under her hand.” 10 Then Jehovah’s angel said: “I will greatly multiply your offspring,* so that they will be too numerous to count.”+

20 But as regards Ishʹma·el, I have heard you. Look! I will bless him and will make him fruitful and will multiply him very, very much. He will produce 12 chieftains, and I will make him become a great nation.+

12 This is the history of Ishʹma·el+ the son of Abraham whom Haʹgar+ the Egyptian, the servant of Sarah, bore to Abraham.

16 These are the sons of Ishʹma·el, and these are their names by their settlements and by their encampments,* 12 chieftains according to their clans.+
