14 Moreover, King Cyrus took out of the temple of Babylon the gold and silver vessels of the house of God that Neb·u·chad·nezʹzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem and had brought to the temple of Babylon.+ They were given to a man named Shesh·bazʹzar,*+ whom Cyrus made governor.+

16 Then this Shesh·bazʹzar came, and he laid the foundations of the house of God,+ which is in Jerusalem; and it has been under construction from then until now, but it has not been completed.’+

1 In the second year of King Da·riʹus, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of Jehovah came through Hagʹgai*+ the prophet to Ze·rubʹba·bel+ son of She·alʹti·el, the governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Je·hozʹa·dak, the high priest, saying:

14 So Jehovah stirred up the spirit+ of Ze·rubʹba·bel the son of She·alʹti·el, the governor of Judah,+ and the spirit of Joshua+ the son of Je·hozʹa·dak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people; and they came and began to work on the house of Jehovah of armies, their God.+

23 “‘In that day,’ declares Jehovah of armies, ‘I will take you, my servant Ze·rubʹba·bel+ son of She·alʹti·el,’+ declares Jehovah, ‘and I will make you like a seal ring, because you are the one whom I have chosen,’ declares Jehovah of armies.”
