14 Then John’s disciples came to him and asked: “Why do we and the Pharisees practice fasting but your disciples do not fast?”+

2 “The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of Moses.

30 But the Pharisees and those versed in the Law disregarded the counsel* of God to them,+ since they had not been baptized by him.)

42 But woe to you Pharisees, because you give the tenth of the mint and of the rue and of every other* garden herb,*+ but you disregard the justice* and the love of God! These things you were under obligation to do, but not to disregard those other things.+
