did not enter in because of disobedience: In a similar statement at Heb 3:19, Paul says that the Israelites did not enter into God’s rest “because of lack of faith.” Their lack of faith in Jehovah’s promises to support and protect them led them to disobey his commands. The result of this disobedience was that those rebels did not enter the Promised Land and did not enter into God’s rest. (See study notes on Heb 3:11; 4:2.)
