27 When Abʹner returned to Hebʹron,+ Joʹab took him aside inside the gate to speak with him privately. However, there he stabbed him in the abdomen, and he died;+ this was for killing* his brother Asʹa·hel.+

24 Asʹa·hel+ the brother of Joʹab was among the thirty: El·haʹnan the son of Doʹdo of Bethʹle·hem,+

27 This is the number of Israelites, the heads of the paternal houses, the chiefs of the thousands and of the hundreds,+ and their officers who ministered to the king+ in every matter of the divisions that would come in and go out month by month during all the months of the year; there were 24,000 in each division.

7 The fourth for the fourth month was Asʹa·hel,+ Joʹab’s brother,+ and his son Zeb·a·diʹah after him, and 24,000 were in his division.
