3 (from the branch of the Nile* that is in front of Egypt and up to the border of Ekʹron to the north,+ it used to be reckoned as belonging to the Caʹnaan·ites);+ five axis lords*+ of the Phi·lisʹtines, the Gaʹzites*+ and the Ashʹdod·ites,+ the Ashʹke·lon·ites,+ the Gitʹtites*+ and the Ekʹron·ites;+ and the Avʹvim.+

10 Hence they sent the ark of the [true] God* to Ekʹron.+ And it came about that as soon as the ark of the [true] God came to Ekʹron, the Ekʹron·ites began to cry out, saying: “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel around to me to put me and my people to death!”+

2 Then A·ha·ziʹah fell down+ through the grating in his roof chamber+ that was in Sa·marʹi·a and got sick. So he sent messengers and said to them: “Go, inquire+ of Baʹal-zeʹbub*+ the god* of Ekʹron+ whether I shall revive from this sickness.”+

8 And I will cut off [the] inhabitant from Ashʹdod,+ and the holder of [the] scepter from Ashʹke·lon;+ and I will turn my hand back+ upon Ekʹron,+ and the remaining ones* of the Phi·lisʹtines must perish,”+ the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said.’
