16 For I hate* divorce,”+ says Jehovah the God of Israel, “and the one who covers his garment with violence,”* says Jehovah of armies. “And guard yourselves respecting your spirit, and you must not deal treacherously.+

5 and said: ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and will stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh’?+

7 For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother,+ 8 and the two will be one flesh,’+ so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

2 For instance, a married woman* is bound by law to her husband while he is alive; but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband.+

16 Do you not know that anyone who is joined to a prostitute is one body with her? For “the two,” says he, “will be one flesh.”+
