4 Therefore, whoever will humble himself like this young child is the one who is the greatest in the Kingdom of the heavens;+

11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”+

13 But the tax collector, standing at a distance, was not willing even to raise his eyes heavenward but kept beating his chest, saying, ‘O God, be gracious to me, a sinner.’+ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his home and was proved more righteous than that Pharisee.+ Because everyone who exalts himself will be humiliated, but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”+

3 For through the undeserved kindness given to me, I tell everyone there among you not to think more of himself than it is necessary to think,+ but to think so as to have a sound mind,+ each one as God has given* to him a measure of faith.+

4 Therefore I, the prisoner+ in the Lord, appeal to you to walk worthily+ of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all humility+ and mildness,+ with patience,+ putting up with one another in love,+

5 In the same way, you younger men, be in subjection to the older men.*+ But all of you clothe* yourselves with humility* toward one another, because God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.+
