25 God presented him as an offering for propitiation+ through faith in his blood.+ This was to demonstrate his own righteousness, because God in his forbearance was forgiving the sins that occurred in the past.
17 Consequently, he had to become like his “brothers” in all respects,+ so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God,+ in order to offer a propitiatory sacrifice+ for the sins of the people.+
24 He himself bore our sins+ in his own body on the stake,*+ so that we might die to* sins and live to righteousness. And “by his wounds you were healed.”+
